Steel Empire in review

SteelEmpire milestone Steel Empire in review

The team at NintendoLife was very pleased with the game. Morgan Sleeper wrote that “not only is it a fantastic example of a remake done right, with a polished presentation that feels right at home on the 3DS, it also stands as a great modern game in its own right”. In conclusion Steel Empire “is a blast” and gets an impressive score of 9!

PureNintendo pointed out that “Steel Empire makes for a highly entertaining 3DS download!  (…) It deserves to succeed even more now due to the lack of shooters being made – when originally released the market was bloated with such games!”. The reviewer advises to “consider this a must buy for shooter fans” and rates the game with 8.5.

Destructoid summed up that ”[the game] looks, sounds, and feels great on the 3DS, and is a natural fit for Nintendo’s portable. The 3D effect is more pronounced than many other eShop games, and the user interface is wonderfully minimal. The same could be said about the retro soundtrack, which is phenomenal.” Chris Carter gave the game 8/10 and his recommendation by saying “[it] is worth your time and cash”.

Eric from 3DSpedia.com also praised the game: ”Amazing gameplay, great replay value, excellent remastering work and a premium presentation is the best way to define Steel Empire, where I can easily recommend it to any fan of the genre.” Zack from MyGamer admitted: “I honestly have not had this much fun with a 2D shooter in a long time.” And Garrett from Wii’s World called Steel Empire ”undoubtedly a well-crafted game that any fan of this genre should give a shot.”
